This is a question someone asked at Yahoo Answers awhile ago, and I saved it because it illustrates how stupid people can be when it comes to the worship of Yahweh, the Bible God. (Awful spelling and grammar have been left intact for your amusement.)
Question:
Why are people saying this about pentecostals?
Look Im reading questions about Pentecostals and some of this stuff is RIDICULOUS Pentecostals believe in ONE TRUE GOD the reason Pentecostal Women wear skirts is because in Deuteronomy Chapter 22 verse 5 says this: The woman shall not wear that which pertainith unto a man neither shall put on a womans garmet for all that do so are an ABONINATION unto the Lord thy God. (pants were made for men for mens work clothes and such) the reason the women dont cut thier hair is BECAUSE In the Bible also in 1st Corinthians 11 verse 5 it says But every woman that prayeth or prophesiath wither her HEAD UNCOVERED DISHONORETH Her head ( which in verse 3 says every man Christ and the head of every woman is man and the head of Christ is God) back to verse 5: for all that is even all on as iuf she were unshaven. verse 6: for if the woman not be covered let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven let it be covered.men leave their head short his head isthe Glory of God
My Answer:
Go to a clothing store, look at some women's dress slacks, and tell me if you think they're something a man would wear. Well, he might, if he's a cross-dresser, but generally women's pants look different and are made to fit the female body, so it's not as if they're gender-exchangeable. Honestly, if that's the sort of petty thing your God finds "abominable," then he is a really small-minded God, indeed. There are children dying every day, kids who are abused, raped, locked in closets, starved to death, beaten, drowned in lakes, killed at birth, you name it, and there's not so much as a mention of that anywhere in the Bible. Where is the command that says, "Thou shalt not sexually molest a child"? Don't bother looking, it isn't there. I should think that THAT is something a loving God would truly find abominable--I know I sure as hell do--but do you think there is even the slightest hint of it in all of the 613 laws that he gave to Moses? Of course not, because God was too busy fretting and fuming over men and women wearing each other's clothes, or linen being mixed with wool, or a man trimming his beard the wrong way, or a young girl not being a virgin on her wedding night, or a boy's foreskin being amputated, or a woman having short hair or too much jewelry, or any of a hundred other stupid, pointless minutia that shrink to nothingness compared to the really important problems in life. Maybe you need a religion that knows how to separate what's important from what is trivial. Pentecostalism obviously ain't doing it.
Welcome to my blog! I decided to change the title of this blog from "The Happy-Fun Bible Study Page" to more accurately reflect the wider range of subject material that I will be posting. The more I learn about Christianity, the more it becomes blatantly obvious that, despite what its adherents claim, God simply is not there for them. God is not guiding the churches, God is not answering prayers, God is not protecting little children from harm, and God is not concerning himself with the mundane doings of humanity. If he were doing any of this, the world would not look exactly as if people were making all the decisions and running the show. As far as I am concerned, a god who takes no part in human activities looks the same as a god who does not exist.
